ADC’s Aminu Abubakar Suleiman Emerges as Kogi East’s Development-Focused Contender for 2027
As political activities build toward 2027, Quantity Surveyor and project management specialist Aminu Abubakar Suleiman is drawing attention in Kogi East as a contender positioning himself on competence, development, and grassroots engagement under the African Democratic Congress.
Suleiman, who has built a career managing large-scale infrastructure and public-private partnership projects across Nigeria, says his approach to politics is rooted in service delivery rather than rhetoric. Supporters argue that his technical background gives him a practical edge in addressing the infrastructural and economic gaps in the senatorial district.
“Kogi East needs representation that understands how to translate policy into projects that people can see and use,” a close associate said. “That’s the value he brings from years of project management and PPP experience.”
He has formally declared his candidacy, consultations and endorsements from youth and community groups have intensified in recent months, with many citing his consistent engagement on education, youth empowerment, and accountable governance.
Suleiman’s agenda is expected to center on job creation through infrastructure, reforms in basic education and healthcare access, fiscal discipline in public spending, and improved security partnerships at the community level. He has also emphasized transparency in constituency representation and stronger linkages between federal projects and local needs.
Political observers note that his profile as a technocrat rather than a career politician sets him apart in a district where voters are increasingly demanding measurable outcomes from elected officials.
“Kogi East is looking for someone who can bridge professional expertise with political will,” one party stakeholder in Ankpa said. “The clamour you hear on the ground is about competence and track record.”
For now, Suleiman’s consultations across the nine local government areas of Kogi East has proven rewarding. With the ADC looking to expand its footprint in the state, his entry into the race has reshaped the contest for the senatorial seat ahead of 2027.
