The Kogi state African Democratic Congress party held the party Congress in Lokoja the state capital on 19th November 2021, where Hon. Kingsley Temitope Ogga emerged as the state party Chairman by consensus yes votes conducted by Alhaji Sa’aid Abubakar.
33 others emerged as State and Zonal Executive members of the party unopposed. Mr Sule Gomina emerged as Deputy Chairman and John Adaji as state Secretary of the party.
Addressing stakeholders as well as party faithful, Alhaji Sa’aid Abubakar said the 33 positions were unopposed.
“It is part of our Party constitution that executive positions can be unopposed and consensus candidates can emerge as executives and we will allow it because it is legal and constitutional, so we will confirm this by voice affirmation,” he said.
All the 33 candidates were called out to line in a single file and a voice affirmation was made, the delegates responded to affirm their emergence to fill all the positions as provided in the constitution of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). They took an oath of office and congress committees stands dissolved with all former executives.
In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman Hon. Kingsley Temitope appreciated the National Chairman and members of the National Working Committee of ADC. He further extended his gratitude to the member House of Representatives Yagba Federal Constituency Hon. Leke Abejide for financing the party and being a pillar for the party.
Mr Kingsley said the position is a challenge for him to unite everyone together.
“We remain focused on the assignment to ensure peace, unity and growth of the party. Hon. Leke Abejide has made our assignment easy for us and we will do more across the state to evangelise ADC to win more members into the fold, we will make sure ADC gives the best of governance to the people”.
He enjoined other executives to cooperate with him to saddle the affairs of the party in the state with other members of the party.
“All we need is peace, unity and love to move the party forward both at the state and National Level, and we have proven that it can be done,”. He said.
Hon. Kingsley welcomed decampees and new members who joined the party, he said a day will be fixed to welcome other decampees and new members who have seen the light in the party and wants to join actively.
