ActionAid Nigeria has restated its Commitment to training and retraining of Journalists and Media Practitioners towards Preventing and Reducing Violent Extremism to the bearest minimum.
Funmilayo Oyefusi, Director, Organisational Effectiveness ActionAid Nigeria stated this at a welcome remarks during a Media Masterclass: Policy Engagement for Preventing Violent Extremism During and Post Covid19 in Kogi and Nasarawa State organized for Media Practitioners and Journalists.
According to the Director, Organisational Effectiveness ActionAid Nigeria, ActionAid Nigeria had trained over 500 Journalists and Media Practitioners on Preventing Violent Extremism and on other projects in the last few years, commended the media for serving as a vehicle towards helping to disseminate information to the public.
Funmilayo Oyefusi described the Media Masterclass Training as another opportunity for Media Practitioners to be trained on contemporary ideas and on tracking budget on Preventing Violent Extremism, urged the participants to use the training effectively.
She charged media Practitioners and Journalists on the need to have an understanding of what citizens expect towards curbing PVE, assist AAN to help avoid reporting pitfalls aimed at preventing violent extremisim, described the media as a vehicle that can help in amplifying efforts to preventing violent extremisim.
The Media Masterclass: Policy Engagement for Preventing Violent Extremism During and Post Covid19 in Kogi and Nasarawa State organized for Media Practitioners and Journalists is part of the “System and Structure Strengthening Approach against Radicalisation to Violent Extremism (SARVE II) Project in Kogi and Nasarawa State Phase II”
