The All Progressives Congress (APC), Edo State Chapter has condemned the continued insecurity ravaging the people in the State.
The Party in a statement signed by its publicity secretary, Barrister Peter Enoserogbe Uwadiae Igbinigie said, It is now a phenomenal, that a day hardly passes in the State without the sad news of someone been kidnapped or killed in the state.
Igbinigie, said, “the latest is the abduction of Godwin Aigbogun, the APC Party Chairman, Ugu Ward, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the State”.
Nigerian Post gathered that, the APC chairman was abducted by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen on Monday, 18 July, 2022 at Ologbo-nugu Community, on his way from the farm.
According to him, the scene of crime is under the Iguelaba Police Division close to both Urhonigbe and Ugo Police Divisions, the Party said.
He stated that, ” Aigbogun’s abductors stormed out of the bush, forced his vehicle to stop at gunpoint and whisked him away to unknown destination”.
“We had it on good account that the hoodlums contacted the family almost immediately, demanding N5 mllion ransom for his release”.
Igbinigie further stated, that
each time the news of a crime is broken, we hear the Government say: we are on top of the situation, yet nothing is happening to reassure the people.
We have repeatedly and consistently called on Governor Obaseki to walk the talk as it is obvious; that his WABAIZIGHAN, Vigilante security architecture have made no meaningful impact.
The party advised the governor to use the N750m security vote monthly meant for the State well and give the people what they deserve security wise.
The Governor’s posturing is no doubt, tantamount to insensitivity of the highest order as the importance of life and property cannot be overemphasized.
The APC is saying unequivocally therefore, that we cannot continue to live like we are in a jungle; let Obaseki be reminded that it is his responsibility to provide the needed security if life and property must be safe.
However, we are glad to inform, that by the mercy and grace of God, Aigbogun was able to escape successfully from his abductors. He arrived home this morning (Wednesday).
