Special Adviser on Labour matters, Comr. Onuh Edoka receives officials of Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS, reiterates Gov. Ododo’s love for the workforce

Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Labour matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka says teachers play significant roles in societal growth and development.

Comrade Edoka stated this in his office while receiving officials of the State Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS in Lokoja.

He said as teachers, they remain real asesseors of educational growth, explaining that the present administration will continue to accord necessary attention to the workforce.

According to him, the door of the present administration will remain open to various industrial unions in order to smoothen the project of good industrial relations in Kogi State.

Comrade Edoka commended the immediate past Chairman of the Union, Comrade Ojo Ranti for providing purposeful leadership, urging the new leadership to build on the success stories of the past leadership.

“Let me say at this juncture that Comrade Ojo Ranti has been my very close ally, this is why I call him my twin brother and it is important that you take after his steps in order to build a greater ASUSS. Importantly too, it is on record that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is doing so well in terms of workers welfare as it is evident to all, and he will continue to do more having come from a humble and labour background “, he stated.

Comrade Edoka assured that the requests of the Union will be presented to the appropriate quarters and appealed to the ASUSS leaders to help in the propagation of the good works of the Governor, particularly on workers general welfare.

He also appreciated the ASUSS leaders for recognizing his role and assured that efforts will be put in place to do more for the workers.

Earlier, the Chairman of the standing Committee, Comrade Emejeh Sunday said the visit was to appreciate the Governor for his favourable disposition to workers as seen so far in several spheres.

Comrade Emejeh particularly thanked Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the laudable policies in the education sector, citing the payment of WAEC fees by the Government as a good example.

According to Comrade Emejeh, the payment of full salaries to Primary School teachers, minimum wage implementation, prompt payment of salaries and others stands the Governor out.

He however appealed to the Special Adviser to use his office to address the acute shortage of teachers as well.as urged government to look into the plight of teachers who have retired from service.

The ASUSS Chairman added that ” We are aware of your planned sponsorship of pupils into the Suleja Academy and this shows to a great extent the love you have for education, this is what we are preaching that education is the responsibility of all and we say a big thank you”, Comrade Emejeh stated.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a gift to the Special Adviser for his positive role in cementing the relationship between the government and the organized labour.
