A former Minister and Governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Professor Stephen Ikani Ocheni has condemned the destruction of property and lives in some communities in Dekina Local Area of Kogi State.
Professor Stephen Ocheni in a statement from his campaign office today in Lokoja, expressed sadness and grief over the ugly incident that resulted in the loss of lives of innocent citizens.
He appealed for calm, urging appropriate security agencies to do the needful as to restore peace and order to the community without further delay.
“I call on all concerned to cease fire to avoid further blood-letting in the affected communities which has been known for peace and love over the years. This avoidable crisis is a great set back to this peace loving communities and all hands should be on decks to nip this in the bud”.
The APC Governorship aspirant called on stakeholders in Dekina Local Government Area to convoke a peace meeting towards finding a lasting solutions to the disturbing incident that has claimed precious lives and damage to property.
Professor Stephen Ocheni advised that in the interim, a special security outfit should be deployed to the affected areas to prevent further incursion by the intruders, while calling for vigilance among the communities to checkmate the activities of the killer herdsmen.
The APC Governorship aspirant who sympathised with the victims of the unfortunate incident, especially those who lost their beloved ones, urged security agencies to arrest those behind the dastardly act and made to face the full consequences of their actions.
