
Kogi State Signage and Advertisement Agency has Commenced removal of posters defacing public structures in Lokoja, the State Capital.

General Manager of the Agency, Hon. Richard Osaseyi who led the operation on Friday said the move is part of the mandate of the Agency to beautify the State.

Recently, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello assented to the Bill establishing the State Signage and Advertisement Agency after it was passed by the State House of Assembly.

Subsequently, the Governor appointed a popular Philanthropist, Mr. Richard Osaseyi as General Manager of the Agency which is saddled with the responsibility of checking indiscriminate defacing of public places and buildings with posters and billboards.
The General Manager while speaking with Newsmen said it is no longer business as usual, as the Agency under his watch is ready to implement the law establishing it in totality.
“Some residents especially politicians have defaced the beauty of Ganaja Flyover with posters, that is why we are here to keep the beauty of the flyover. We are committed to the beautification of Lokoja”
According to him, the exercise was not politically motivated but aimed at ensuring that Public structures and not littered with posters and billboards.
He expressed concern over the rate at which Political Parties have defaced the Ganaja Junction Flyover, pointing out that after removing the posters, the Agency will visit other places in the State Capital to carry out the same exercise.
He added that the law empowers the Agency to arrest anyone that paste posters or erect billboards without approval and urged the people of the State do cooperate with the Agency.
Some residents commended the move, saying it is a welcome development and long overdue.
On his part, Danladi Idris stated that the Agency is doing the right thing as the Activities of the Agency will improve the revenue generation of the State.
Another Resident, Mohammed Sadiq commended the Signage and Advertisement Agency for being proactive in its activities and called on the people of the State especially political parties to give them maximum cooperation.
