Omala: Annual Umar Ef Unity Football Tournament 2023 Ends In Grand Style


 

As Kogi Sports Commissioner, Others Commend Umar Empowerment Foundation, Says He’s A Unifier, Rallying Point.

The finals of the annual Umar Ef Unity Cup 2023 football tournament organised by Umar Empowerment Foundation was played yesterday between Noble FC and Omala United.

The match ended one goal each way in full time and ended in a penalty shootout, saw Noble FC of Abejukolo emerging victorious, was played at the Abejukolo Stadium.

Dignitaries including the Commissioner for Sports, sitted with Hon. Umar.

The second position of the tournament went to Omala United FC while the third position was clinched by Ever Green FC.

Speaking at the grandfinale, The Hon. Commissioner for Sport and Youths Development, Hon. Idris Musa Danjuma, described the President of Umar Empowerment Foundation, Hon. Umar Yahaya as a unifier, expressed appreciation of the State Government that the tournament has brought unity to Omala LGA.

The Commissioner praised the initiator of the tournament described him as a rallying point, urged the people of the area to support him by remaining peaceful and coexist in peace.

Also speaking, the Council Chairman for Omala LGA, Hon. Ibrahim Aboh, described the initiator of the tournament as a worthy son of the area urged the people to immortalize him by continue to remain peaceful and law abiding.

Adding his voice, the SSA to Gov Yahaya Bello on Youths Empowerment, Kogi State, described Hon. Umar Yahaya as what Omale need moving forward in the House of Assembly, solicited support for him to enable him to continue to do more, described him as a good man.

The President of Umar Empowerment Foundation, who also doubles as the APC House of Assembly Flagbearer for Omale State Constituency in the forthcoming March 11 State Assembly election, has instituted the tournament over the last decade, said the tournament is aimed at uniting the divers group of people within the Local Government as well as scouting for new talents.

He expressed excitement and satisfaction with the impact of the tournament since it began several years ago, said it has helped to unite the people of the area, promised to do more for the youths.

The finals of the Umar Ef Unity Cup 2023 football tournament also had in attendance prominent dignitaries like the District Head of Abejukoko and other government officials and traditional leaders.

Highlights of the grandfinale of the tournament was the presentation of the trophy to the winners along with cash and prizes were equally presented to first, second runner up teams and individual players who played well.

The best performed players were also recognized and presented with gifts accordingly while some of the talented players were selected to be assisted and supported
