Stakeholders in Kogi State have been asked to cooperate with Government to achieve open defecation Free communities in the State.
The State Coordinator, Society For Water and Sanitation, Kogi State Chapter, NEWSAN, Pastor Roseline O. Alabi, made the appeal while on an advocacy visit to the General Manager, RUWASSA,
Alhaji Isa Ododomo Abdullahi, commended Gov. Yahaya Bello on his developmental strides, with a call on stakeholders to collaborate to achieve a
Open Defection Free Communities in Kogi State.
She described the Clean Nigeria use the toilet campaign as an ambitious behavior change campaign, hinged on policy a, public advocacy, private sector engagement and strong citizen engagement.
Mrs. Alabi was accompanied on the visit by some management staff, that include, the Director Administration and Finance, Enock Maji, Hajia Momoh Latifat, Deputy Director Sanitation, Mrs Rose Obademi, Head of Department, Community Mobilization, described Gov. Bello as a civil society organization friendly, stressed that NEWSAN appreciates his zero security tolerance.
Mrs. Alabi urged for a clean society using the toilet campaign, said using the toilet helps prevent the spread of infectious diseases in children, solicited the support of RUWASSA to the provision of potable water.
While pointing out that without decent toilets, women and girls are exposed to danger, stressed access to Improved sanitation, called for strong political commitment, increased support and funding from leadership at all levels.
In his remarks, the General Manager Ruwassa, Alhaji Isa Ododomo Abdullahi
pledged the support of the agency in collaborating with NEWSAN to achieve community led total sanitation in order to achieve the goals and objectives of open defecation Free communities in Kogi State.
Highlights of the visit by NEWSAN was the decoration of the GM RUWASSA as member of Wash family.
