Poor parenting, peer pressure has been identified as reasons for the increase in social misconduct and violence perpetrated by children in the society.
These and many others were the summation by members of EWER Response Plans/Structure Engagement for CMMRC and CPOs for Kogi State during a quarterly review meeting held in Lokoja organized by INTERFAITH Mediation Council in Lokoja.
The groups underscored the place of poor parenting owing to the breakdown of family values, advocated the need for Parenting for peace.
The groups described good parenting as the responsibilities of the father and the mother, urged parents not to cover the bad deeds of their children.
The groups urged parents to be up and doing in there responsibilities, pointing out that the home is the bedrocks for peace while the home was equally identified as the centre place for teaching and learning peace
Earlier, the Data Entering Officer Community Peace Action Network (CIPAN), of Interfaith Mediation Council on the on going Community Initiative to Promote Peace (CIPP) Project, Pastor John Akor, called on the need for parents not to abdicate there responsibilities for schools and house helps.
He said the need for society to come together to protect the cultural heritage for a peaceful co-existence remains relevant, stressed that poor parenting is reason for the unsafe society the nation is faced with.
He urged them to respect individual differences and culture for a peaceful society, pointing out that the time to return to old family values cannot be overemphasized.
