Kogi Muslems Express Satisfaction with Ongoing Transformation in FUL


 

…. Describes Prof. Akinwunmi’s Leadership as turning point for positive development.

 

Kogi State Moslems under the umbrella of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam have expressed satisfaction with the ongoing transformation in the Federal University Lokoja.

 

The JNI described the academic and Infrastructure transformation that is presently being witnessed under the Leadership of Prof. Olayemi Akinwunmi as one that is unprecedented.

 

Prof. Akinwunmi a Christian, is the first indigenouse Vice Chancellor of FUL, hails from Ijumu LGA of Kogi State, was appointed as Vice Chancellor FUL in February 2021

The Kogi State Chairman and Secretary of the JNI, Amb. Usman Bello and Alhaji Isah Adeboye respectively made the disclosure at a special prayer session organised for the Vice Chancellor on Monday at the Jama’atu Nasril Islam Secretariat, Lokoja, pointing out that the emergence of Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi as Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja has no doubt proven to be divine, described his Leadership as turning point for development.

The JNI expressed happiness that under the leadership of Prof. Akinwunmi in the last one year, the citadel of learning has witnessed a lot of difference in the way and manner the Vice Chancellor has promoted sanity, unity and accountability.

Amb. Usman in particular said the conduct of Prof. Akinwunmi has led to his general acceptability by Moslems in Kogi State on the account of his good performance, expressed satisfaction that he has justified the confidence, has convinced all Moslems, and has done well by singling out himself as a developer on a mission to improve on the development of the FUL.

The JNI mentioned the several inaugural lectures, unity, ability to settle all the crisis that had hitherto bedeviled the growth of Federal University Lokoja as reason why the Moslem Ummah in the State choose to honour him with the Prayer.

The JNI through Alhaji Adeboye equally appreciated Prof. Akinwunmi’s achievements in the accreditation of all the courses offered by the University, the boosting of the internally generated Revenue of the Institution, paid glowing tribute to him for the establishment of the College of Health Sciences, which have given birth to the Faculty of Medicine.

The JNI expressed commendation to the Vice Chancellor for the improved ranking witnessed under the Leadership of Prof. Akinwunmi, said under his leadership, FUL now ranks first amongst Universities established by former President Goodluck Jonathan, second best University in North Central Nigeria after University’ of Ilorin and rated amongst ten best in all Nigeria’s University’s.

Highlights of the prayer session was the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, admonition and Special prayers for the Vice Chancellor by Islamic Clerics drawn from across the State.

The JNI appreciated the Vice Chancellor for allocating a plot of land for Building of a mosque in the University, establishment of the Department of Arabic Studies, said the Moslem Ummah in the State would continue to pray for his success as Vice Chancellor.

Speaking at the occasion, visibly overwhelmed Prof. Olayemi Akinwunmi said the modest achievements was a product of team work of dedicated staff and divine support.

The Vice Chancellor promised to leave FUL better than he had met it, expressed satisfaction with the funding support from the Federal Government, pointing out that the University now wears a new look with completed and ongoing Infrastructure.
