The Chairman of Kogi State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Adeiza Momohjimoh has attributed the high rate of insecurity and kidnapping to drug abuse, saying that 95 percent of crimes committed are traceable to the abuse of illicit drugs in the Country.
Adeiza who made this known while receiving an NGO against use of drugs , Drug Free World Africa who was on awareness campaign against the use of drugs at Nigeria Union of Journalists Secretariat in Lokoja on Tuesday, stated that the use of illicit drugs have taken a dangerous dimensions in Nigeria in the recent past.
He, therefore, admonished the teaming youth in Kogi State and Nigeria in general, to keep a way from abuse of drugs that portends danger to their life.
The NUJ chairman also called on parents to keep watch on their wards not the associate with drug users, adding that the parents must constantly ask questions about the well being of their children.
He commended the organiser of the anti-drug awareness campaign, Drug Free World Africa for the wonderful job they are doing in Kogi State , calling on the youth to listen attentively to safe their lives from the lurking danger of illicit drugs.
Adeiza also commended the the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA for the resilience in the fighting war against illicit drugs in the country, urging agency not to relent in their efforts so as to ensure total reduction in crime rate and insecurity that has bedevilled the nation.

Musa Ahmed said the campaign against drug is timely , stressing that NDLEA in Kogi State will continue to collaborate with the Non governmental organisation for fighting war against drug abuse.
Ahmed pointed out that the Kogi State Command of NDLEA has a rehabilitation centres which the drug addicts could be treated , adding that the Agency are no longer seeing them as criminals but rather patients.
He warned the youth on the danger of illicit drug, saying should free themselves from use of any forms of illicit drugs.
The Convener of the drug free campaign, Maximilian Tashimila, while speaking earlier said the NGO has taken the campaign to Nigeria Union of Journalists in Lokoja to enable the youth and parents to know about the adverse effect of the use of illicit drugs by the youth.
He warned the youth in the State to desist from.associating with the politicians who are in the habit of buying drugs for the youth to enable them win election.
