The Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones, FCIB, has restated the commitment of Gov. Yahaya Bello to support and improve vocational and informal education in the state.
Jones gave the assurance when the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Vocational and Informal Education, Hon. Nanahawa Yetunde Raji, paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Thursday in Lokoja.
The Commissioner appreciated the SSA for the visit, while restating the commitment of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to revamping all aspects of education in the state, including vocational training and informal education.
He assured the support of his ministry and other agencies, saying they are also passionately committed to the developmental agenda of the education friendly Governor, His Excellency Alh. Yahaya Bello.
He added that the ministry remained committed and ready to work for a greater Kogi State.
Earlier, the SSA to the Governor on Vocational and informal Education, Hon. Nanahawa Yetunde Raji, said that the visit would serve as an avenue to intimate the Hon. Commissioner of her readiness to work with the Ministry in bridging the gap between formal, vocational and informal education in the state.
According to her, vocational training and informal education are often undervalued sectors in the education system, compared to primary, secondary and higher education.
She opined that the vocational and informal education represent a relatively small share of education budgets and investments, but are very crucial to a country and state’s development.
In his vote of thanks, the Permanent Secretary, Pastor Emmanuel Idenyi, commended the SSA for the visit, and assured the support of the ministry to enable her function effectively in her office.
Other notable Directors in the Ministry were also in attendance at the meeting.
