*With immense gratitude, let me use this medium to register my heartfelt gratitude and sincere appreciation to His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello for always entrusting Asiwaju Asiru Idris, our patriotic and illustrious son in whom we are well pleased with several position of trust and responsibilities*
*Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris is a veteran and guru in financial practice*
*He is the Kogi State commissioner of Finance since the inception of New Direction Government and later upgraded in the second term as commissioner of finance, budget and planning*
*Asiru Idris has made us proud as Yagba nationality in view of his track records of outstanding performance and competence displayed in effective management managing of the finance ministry of the new direction government*
*Turaki Asiru Idris giant stride in human capital and grass development is unparalleled*
*His sterling legacies in reaching out to the less privileged members of the society and other philanthropist gesture to the needy and the larger society has distinct him for excellence*
*“What you do have more greater impact than what you say”. –Steven Covey*
*When I think of Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris creditable performance in the ministry of finance vis-a-vis his gentle and unassuming disposition, then the above quote by Steven Covey comes to my mind. Action, they say, speaks louder than voice*
*Success is also not measured by words but by deeds and actions*
*So in any human society, people – especially those at leadership levels – are judged, not by their words but by their performance*
*It’s within the context of the above simple analogy that one is compelled to do a thumb up for Asiwaju Asiru Idris for his competence on the job and the giant strides in Kogi state ministry of finance: even with meager resources from the statutory allocation and the inherited challenge of debt by previous administration overhang on the State that the State contending with*
*For it takes only a determined and financially prudent leader to have been able to record the level of achievement Asiru has recorded in Kogi state ministry of finance*
*Before I proceed further, perhaps it’s important for me to send a word or two to those who might want to see this piece as praise-singing*
*For me and I think majority of the people will agree with me that there’s absolutely nothing wrong in giving honour to whom it’s due*
*There’s nothing bad in commending a good job*
*This is far from praise-singing*
*In all intellectual honesty if we could be courageous enough to criticise bad deed or poor performance in public office, we should also be able to summon the courage to give kudos to a good job*
*This no doubt is the reason that gave birth to statements like; ‘thank you’, ‘well done’, ‘I appreciate’ and other words that commend good deeds*
*To praise good deed is normal and doing so will surely encourage the doer to do more. Even God expects appreciation from humans*
*When a doer of good is appreciated, then he’s encouraged to do more*
*A philosopher once quipped; “A person who feels appreciated will always do more than what is expected”. Thus to say kudos to a person who does well or a quarter where good work is sited, is not out of place but a way of encouraging more good works on the part of the doer/s. However, it’s important for the person to whom kudos has been given not to rest on his or her oars*
*He or she must find the courage to forge ahead towards recording more achievements*
*For like an adage says; “it’s not the beginning that matters, but how one finishes”*
*Asiru Idris is a silent performer and he prefers that kind of leader*
*Asiwaju Asiru Idris is doing a wonderfully well as the State Ministry of Finance,Budget and Planning*
*There’s no dispute about this*
*He’s focused on building lasting legacies for which real progressive leaders are known*
*For lack of space it’s impossible to roll out the list of official and personal achievements of Asiwaju Asiru Idris since his appointment as honourable commissioner of finance after the official take off of New Direction Government in Kogi state under the pragmatic, visionary and impactful leadership of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State*
*The Lord will continue to bestowed on you the spirit of wisdom, knowledge and understanding in discharging your day to day obligations and duties as demand by your noble office*
