The grand FINALE of this year’s AGASSA Community football/VOllyball shied tournament which started this monday will be rounded up tomorrow ( sunday) the twentieth of December.
Agassa in Okene Local Government area is hosting the sports competition which has attracted sports spetactors, investors, while young male and female athletes show cased their talents to win laurals .
The Sports Festival is sponsored by the Nigeria EROSION and watershed management project and NBHH Nigeria limited, a consruction company based in Kogi State.
The State project manager of NEWMAP Barr. Ladi Jatto initimated that the key objective of the tournament is to serve as a platform to unlock the raw talents at the grassroots and expose the athletes to national and International investors .
She also added that the Sports Festival is geared towards fostering peace, unity and engender rural development stating that Youths and Women in Okene and its environs are actively engage which has diverted their attention from negative behaviours to a more productive ventures.
Barrister Ladi Jatto explained that the tournament was organised in line with Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration’s slogan to do more for the citizens especially the youths and women folk which he has demonstrated in the apointments of Youths in strategic positions in the State .
The Chairman of the organising committee of the sports Festival who is also the Agassa Community Chairman, Alhaji Hussein said sports is a veritable tool to champion peaceful co-existence among the people and praised the sponsors for their investments.
Winners will emerge tomorrow as various teams would play their final matches as tropies have been lined up to be given to the First, second and third positions.
