The Bye Election into Ibaji State Constituency of the Kogi State House of Assembly is ongoing with accreditation and voting taking place simultaneously.
As at 8:30am voting has commenced in 30% of the polling units while as at 10:46am about 60% of the polling units have received materials.
The Nigerianpost correspondent reports that as at 11:57am all the polling units have received materials, with voters and electoral officers observing the Covid19 protocols as directed by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Similarly, there is a heavy presence of security men and members of the paramilitary deployed to all the polling units.
As at time of reporting the Election is said to be largely peaceful, with no reported case of violence and disruption of the electoral process.
Speaking with the INEC Officer In-Charge of Enlightenment, Biambo Bagudu, he said the process has been peaceful, appreciated the cooperation of the electorates.
He commended the turnout of voters expressed optimism that the process would be peaceful.
But in a quick reaction, the Candidate, Hon. Arome Clement Omaonu, Candidate for African Democratic Congress disagreed with the process said electoral materials arrived his Ward in Echewo, Ejila Ward around 11:00am, expressed dissatisfaction with the presence of security agents who cannot be identified.
He said for now he is still in touch with his agents, would issue a comprehensive statement later in the day, but for now expressed dissatisfaction with the process.
