South-South Community In Kogi Appoints Asiwaju Asiru Idris As Patron, Vows To Deliver Tinubu, Ododo, APC In 2027

The South-South community in Kogi State has appointed the Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Asiwaju Asiru Idris, as its Patron.
The decision was reached by the South-South States, comprising Edo, Delta, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa States, at a meeting of Heads of States and Leaders of the community held in Lokoja on Wednesday.
In a unanimous resolution, the leaders said the appointment of Asiwaju Asiru Idris was based on his proven track record in human and community development, his detribalized nature, accessibility and consistent support for non-indigenes resident in Kogi State over the years.
Speaking after the meeting, the Chairman of the South-South Forum in Kogi State, Abu Michael, said Hon. Asiru Idris has over the years remained a solid pillar of support for the South-South people, intervening in times of need and promoting peaceful coexistence between host communities and settlers.
According to him, “We have carefully looked at all his qualities. Hon. Asiwaju Asiru Idris is a man who does not discriminate. He has supported us in our businesses, community development, youth empowerment and in times of crisis. He is a bridge builder and a development-driven leader. That is why we unanimously agreed to appoint him as our Patron.”
Abu added that with Asiwaju Asiru Idris as Patron, the South-South community is better positioned and more organized to play a decisive role in the 2027 general elections.
He expressed optimism that the wealth of experience, political sagacity and wide network of Hon. Asiru Idris will galvanize Southerners in Kogi State to deliver President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and all other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued to newsmen, the South-South community expressed renewed confidence in the Commissioner and assured him of their unflinching support for President Tinubu and Governor Ododo.
The statement described the South-South people as industrious, peaceful and loyal residents who have contributed immensely to the socio-economic growth of Kogi State.
They pledged to continue to champion their interests, promote unity among all ethnic groups in the state, and work with other stakeholders to ensure victory for the APC at all levels in 2027.
“We will work to sustain the peace and development being enjoyed under President Tinubu and Governor Ododo and ensure a resounding victory for the APC,” the statement said.
