By joshua CPC Sets To Enforce Ban On Sachet Gin, Agbo In Edo

The Edo State Consumer Protection Committee said it will commence full enforcement of the ban on Sachet Gin and locally made Nigerian herbal mixtures popularly known as Agbo across the state from Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
The committee said the grace period granted to traders and other stakeholders to comply with the directive expired on Sunday, September 20, paving the way for the commencement of enforcement.
Chairman of the committee, Mr. Iyamu Osaro Culture, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, warning in Benin City.
According to him, ” Anyone caught selling, hawking, or hoarding Sachet Gin and Agbo will be made to pay a prescribed fine into the Edo State Government Single Account, while the products will be seized and confiscated. He stated
Warning that, the announcement is to prepare the minds of the public ahead of the committee’s operation. He concluded.

BAN ON SACHET GIN: GRACE PERIOD ELAPSES, ENFORCEMENT BEGIN ON TUESDAY, 22nd OF SEPTEMBER, 2026
The general public, especially consumers and traders, are hereby informed that the extension granted on the ban on Sachet Gin expired on Sunday, 20th September, 2026.
Consequently, full enforcement will commence on Tuesday, 22nd September, 2026.
Anyone caught selling, hawking, or hoarding Sachet Gin and Agbo will be made to pay a prescribed fine into the Edo State Government Single Account, while the products will be seized and confiscated.
This announcement is to prepare the minds of the public ahead of our operation.
