OHIMEGYE OF KOTONKARFE CHARGES GSS KOTONKARFE OLD BOYS ON UNITY, Development
The Ohimege Igu of Kotonkarfe, Dr. Saidu Akawu Salihu, has called on members of the Government Secondary School, Kotonkarfe Old Boys Association to maintain the cordial relationship among them to foster the growth and development of both the school and the Kotonkarfe community.
The Traditional Ruler made the call on Tuesday when the executive members of the association paid him a homage at his palace in Kotonkarfe.
Dr. Akawu, himself an alumnus of the institution, said GSS Kotonkarfe has produced notable individuals who have excelled in various fields and occupied positions of authority at state and national levels.
He expressed pride in the caliber of graduates the school has produced, noting that it was once a cosmopolitan institution with students drawn from different parts of the country.
He urged members to remain united as one indivisible family and appealed to successful alumni to plough back their resources toward the development of the school and their communities.
As a gesture of support, the paramount ruler donated ₦500,000 to the association.
Speaking earlier, the Vice President of the association, Alhaji Adamu Muhammed, described the visit as memorable and congratulated the Ohimegye on obtaining a PhD in Public Administration from Nasarawa State University, Keffi, which he described as remarkable and well deserved.
Alhaji Muhammed noted that GSS Kotonkarfe has produced eloquent and accomplished personalities who have distinguished themselves in service to the nation. He called on members to return to their Alma Mater to encourage students and contribute to the school’s overall development.
Also speaking, the Assistant Legal Adviser of the association, Barrister Tanko Muhammed, described the Ohimege as “an icon of light and a great achiever.” He commended the royal father for making GSS Kotonkarfe and the entire Kotonkarfe kingdom proud, noting that the area has witnessed monumental achievements since he ascended the throne.
In separate remarks, other executive members including Mrs. Kehinde Tiamiyu, Hajiya Ayishetu Amole, and alumnus Mr. Ahmed Jigo thanked God for their lives and expressed pride in graduating from GSS Kotonkarfe. They pledged continued support for the growth of the school.
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a congratulatory plaque to the Ohimege in recognition of his academic achievement and leadership.
