441 Kogi Special Constabulary Officers Graduate in PTS Ilorin


 

Kogi State Government has assured of its continued partnership with the Nigerian Police for the effective policing of the State.

Governor Yahaya Bello gave the indication during the passing of parade of four hundred and forty one Special Constabularies at the Police Training School (PTS), Ilorin Kwara State.

The Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu had recently approved the recruitment of 16 Special Constabulary officers in each of the twenty one Local Government Areas of Kogi State for effective community policing.

Kogi State Government however added 5 per Local Government to make it a total of 21 officers per Local Government Council.

Governor Yahaya Bello represented by Kogi State Security Adviser retired Commander Jerry Omodara described the successful graduation of the officers as a giant stride in his commitment to the security of lives and property.

The Governor said the officers will complement the efforts of other security agencies especially in the area of intelligence gathering at the grassroots.

“They represent a renewed hope for an improved security to the people of Kogi State and Nigeria as a whole. We are all aware of the security challenges plaguing our country ranging from terrorism, kidnappings, armed robberies, rape etc.” The Governor explained

He enjoined the Special Constabulary officers to see their recruitment as a call to service for improved policing of the State and Nigeria in general.

The Governor charged the officers to be disciplined and replicate lessons of the training in the discharge of their duty.

“To all the graduants today (Tuesday), go and remain disciplined, obey all lawful directives and respect and protect the rights of all Nigerians as you have been trained. Be good ambassadors of Nigeria Police Force…” He stated

Governor Bello thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for his relentless effort in sustaining the unity of Nigeria as well as protection of Nigerians.

The Commandant Police Training School, Ilorin, ACP Maitaba Gambari commended the Governor for his support to issues of security and the officers for their orderly conduct.
