Assembly watch has appealed to the leadership of the National Assembly under the Senate President, Distinguished Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan and the Speaker Rt Honourable, Femi Gbajabiamila to extend their two year succour to payment of 2019 salary arears, DTA and miimum wage arears/others to legislative aides that had lingered for sometimes now.

According to Marouf Bamidele, the protem spokesman said this is the only way the aides will be giving a sense of belonging in the runnings of the affairs of the National Assembly.

The spokesman bemoaned the welfare of legislative aides, saying this development will also pose a potential danger to their principals.

‘We believed that the issue of salary arears, DTA, minimum wage and other entitlements of legislative aides is already over flogged.’

‘We want the intervention of the leadership of the 9th Assembly directing the management of NASS on the way forward, rather than embracing red tapism and bureacracy in handling the matter.’

‘We are not unaware of efforts in that regard, but we want the leadership to use the situation as part of succour being extended to other vulnerable Nigerians, to the vulnerable at the corridor of power, hence the legislative aides.’

‘We further appeal to the 9th Assembly leadership to play down on the approach of legislative aides towards offsetting the arears, saying it was borne of out lack and wants, though their entitlements.’

He congratulated the 9th Assembly leadership, management and NASC for their concerted efforts, promising that the next two years will chart a new chapter of the current leadeship at all levels.
