The Ohimege Igu Koton Karfe, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Gambo Isah Koto, on Tuesday performed the historical ground breaking ceremony of N394 million Koton Karfe Central masjid
Performing the function in Koton Karfe, the Royal Father explained that the project would cost N394 million.
Isah Koto said the project was conceived out of Muslim ummah inherent desire to construct a modern Mosque for the Muslim community of Koton Karfe and its environs
He urged muslims to ensure that their wards get education stressing that it will help reduce illiteracy, poverty and social vices.
Isah Koto further admonished muslims on peace and unity to address various challenges facing the Nation.
The Ohimege also explained that the Koton Karfe central masjid when completed wouldn’t serve Koton Karfe alone, but the entire Igu Kingdom.
In his welcome address, Chairman Local Organising Committee, Professor Aguye Ibrahim, commended Muslim community and called on them to support the Koton Karfe central masjid project which he described as a unfying factor.
Chairman of Kogi local government council, Hon Isah Abdulkareem a.k.a ECOMOG, in his good will message assured Muslims of his Administration’s determination to develop the area and called on them to donate generously to the Koton Karfe masjid Committee.
Chairman of Kogi state jama’atu Nasril Islam( JNI) Ambassador Usman Bello, commended the Ohimege Igu of Koton Karfe Alh. Isah Koto for what he described as historic and manumental achievement.
He Commended Gov. Yahaya Bello adding that” Gov Bello is a man of his words, I know he’ll fulfil the promise he made to His Royal Majesty of ensuring that Koton Karfe have a befitting central masjid” the chairman said.
Architect Ahassan Abdulmuminu disclosed that when completed, the masjid would consist of Library, Islamic educational facilities, shopping complex and classes.
The ceremony was attended by Grand khadi of Kogi state Hon. Justice Abdulkareem Aruwa, who was represented by justice Danladi Isah Yakubu of Kogi state Shari’a Court of appeal, Alhaji Isah Adeboye, secretary JNI, Reverend Father Yaro Mai kyau of Catholic Church, Koton Karfe, top Goverment officials, traditional title holders and a host of others.
Highlights of the occasion was the laying of the foundation of Koton Karfe Central Masjid by the Ohimege Igu of Koton Karfe,Alhaji Abdulrasaq Gambo Isah Koto.
