No fewer than 2,679 prospective entrepreneurs have completed orientation for the fourth edition of the Oba Ewuare II Two-Month Entrepreneurship Programme, an initiative aimed at promoting youth enterprise, skills development and job creation in Edo State.
The programme, organised by Aiguobasinmwin Movement World-Wide as part of activities marking the 10th Coronation Anniversary of His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, CFR, is scheduled to commence on August 10, 2026.
The orientation brought together participants from across Edo State and served as a preparatory exercise ahead of the intensive two-month entrepreneurship training, which is designed to equip beneficiaries with practical business and vocational skills for self-employment, enterprise development and wealth creation.xn
Speaking at the event, President of Aiguobasinmwin Movement World-Wide, Iyamu Osaro Culture, described the initiative as a strategic investment in human capital, noting that equipping young people with entrepreneurial skills is essential to tackling unemployment and driving sustainable economic growth.
He commended the participants for their impressive turnout and urged them to make the most of the opportunity by demonstrating commitment, discipline and a strong determination to translate the knowledge acquired into successful business ventures.
Iyamu also charged the participants to uphold the values, culture and dignity of the Benin Kingdom throughout the programme, reminding them that they are ambassadors of the revered throne of Oba Ewuare II.
According to him, the entrepreneurship programme has continued to expand in scope and impact since its inception, providing thousands of young people with practical skills and enterprise development opportunities that enhance livelihoods and strengthen Edo State’s small business ecosystem.
He reaffirmed the Movement’s commitment to supporting youth empowerment through sustainable entrepreneurship and skills acquisition initiatives that contribute to inclusive economic development across the state.
The two-month programme is one of the flagship initiatives lined up to commemorate the monarch’s 10th coronation anniversary and reflects the growing role of community-based organisations in fostering economic inclusion, entrepreneurship and youth development.
