2027: Kogi West Must Build Consensus, Strengthen Unity in Pursuit of Governorship, Political Advocate Urges

18th July 2026

As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Kogi State, a prominent political advocate has called on the people of Kogi West Senatorial District to place unity, strategic collaboration, and collective interest above individual ambitions in order to enhance the district’s prospects of producing the next Governor of the state.

Speaking during a political engagement, Comr. Olorunhudo Samuel Taiwo emphasized that political power is often secured through deliberate organization, sustained grassroots mobilization, and broad-based political participation rather than by mere expectation. He urged political stakeholders, traditional leaders, youths, women, professionals, and party faithful across Kogi West to work together in pursuit of a common objective.

According to him, the 2027 governorship election presents what he described as a significant opportunity for Kogi West to demonstrate political maturity by speaking with one voice and presenting a united front in the interest of the district.

He stressed that no political arrangement should be taken for granted, noting that leadership transitions are ultimately shaped by political negotiations, public support, strategic alliances, and electoral success. He therefore encouraged the people of Kogi West to focus on strengthening internal cohesion and building a formidable political structure capable of advancing the district’s aspirations.

The political advocate observed that history has shown that divisions within political blocs often weaken their bargaining strength, while unity enhances credibility and increases the likelihood of achieving shared objectives. He therefore appealed to political actors to avoid unnecessary rivalries, personal attacks, and actions capable of creating disunity among the people.

He further maintained that the time had come for leaders and supporters across the various political tendencies within Kogi West to put aside personal differences and embrace a common vision aimed at advancing the overall interest of the district. According to him, genuine development can only be achieved when leaders and citizens work together with a shared sense of purpose and commitment.

Comr. Olorunhudo Samuel Taiwo also called on the youth to remain actively involved in the democratic process by participating responsibly in political discussions, supporting peaceful campaigns, and promoting issue-based politics. He noted that the younger generation has a vital role to play in shaping the future leadership of Kogi State and should remain committed to values of peace, unity, and responsible civic engagement.

He expressed optimism that with sustained consultation, effective grassroots mobilization, and a spirit of togetherness, Kogi West can strengthen its political relevance and make a compelling case in the 2027 governorship contest.

He concluded by appealing to all sons and daughters of Kogi West, irrespective of political affiliation, religion, or social background, to see themselves as one indivisible people working toward a common aspiration. He emphasized that unity remains the greatest asset of any people seeking meaningful political advancement and urged stakeholders to begin building the consensus necessary to position Kogi West effectively ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
