…. Commissioner commends Ukwo Ward aspirants for unity behind Kogi 1 consensus candidate

Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Abubakar Bashir Gegu, has declared that Kogi Local Government Area is “sealed and delivered” for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.

Engr. Gegu made the statement on Saturday while hosting a delegation of Ukwo Ward stakeholders led by Ward Chairman, Hon. Usman Abdulazeez, and Kogi 1 Constituency House of Assembly consensus candidate, Hon. Aliyu Dauda. The visit also included all 19 other aspirants from Ukwo Ward, where the seat was zoned.

Speaking during the courtesy visit, Hon. Usman Abdulazeez said the delegation came to thank Engr. Gegu for his fatherly guidance and key role in ensuring a peaceful consensus process in Kogi 1 Constituency.

“We came as one family to thank our leader, Engr. Abubakar Bashir Gegu. The stakeholders spoke, and the aspirants from Ukwo Ward have accepted their decision in good faith,” he said.

“Today, all the aspirants from Ukwo Ward are here with me to show that we stand with Hon. Dauda Aliyu and we will work for the victory of our party,” he added.

In his remarks, Engr. Gegu applauded the aspirants for prioritizing party unity over personal ambition, describing their action as a demonstration of loyalty and a clear message that Kogi 1 is united ahead of the polls.

He urged Hon. Aliyu Dauda to run an inclusive campaign and carry all stakeholders and aspirants along, while charging the 19 aspirants to deploy their political structures to secure victory for the consensus candidate and the APC.

“Kogi LGA is sealed. From the Presidential to the Governorship elections, APC will score 100%,” Engr. Gegu said.

He noted that the accomplishments of the APC-led administration under President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo have diminished opposition parties in the area, advising any opposition still planning to field candidates to look elsewhere.
