By joshua 2026 ISANLU NEW YAM FESTIVAL: MUKADAM ASIRU IDRIS FELICITATES AGBANA, SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF ISANLU KINGDOM
The Kogi State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA, has extended warm felicitations to the people of Isanlu Kingdom on the occasion of the 2026 Annual New Yam Festival, describing the celebration as a timeless symbol of gratitude, cultural pride, unity, and communal prosperity.
In a goodwill message issued on Saturday, the Commissioner, who is also an illustrious son of Isanlu Kingdom, congratulated sons and daughters of the ancient kingdom, both at home and in the diaspora, for witnessing another edition of the revered cultural festival, celebrated annually on the last Saturday of July.
According to him, the New Yam Festival remains one of the most treasured cultural heritage of the people, serving as a period of thanksgiving to God for a bountiful harvest, the celebration of the dignity of labour, and a reaffirmation of the values of peace, unity, and collective progress that have sustained the kingdom through generations.
Mukadam Asiru Idris paid glowing tribute to His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Moses Babatunde Etombi, the Agbana of Isanlu Land and Chairman of the Yagba East Traditional Council, for his exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to preserving the rich cultural heritage, peace, and development of Isanlu Kingdom.
He prayed for God’s continued guidance, sound health, wisdom, and a long, prosperous reign for the revered monarch while commending the traditional institution for fostering harmony and stability across the kingdom.
The Commissioner also urged the people of Isanlu to continue promoting the values of love, peaceful coexistence, and communal development, stressing that the festival should inspire renewed commitment towards the growth, unity, and advancement of the kingdom.
He further called on the younger generation to embrace and preserve the rich cultural heritage of their forebears, noting that culture remains a vital pillar for identity, continuity, and sustainable community development.
Mukadam Asiru Idris expressed optimism that the celebration would further strengthen the bond among the people and attract greater interest in the cultural and tourism potential of Isanlu Kingdom.
He prayed that the new harvest would usher in greater abundance, divine blessings, lasting peace, and unprecedented development for every household and the kingdom at large.
He wished His Royal Majesty, the traditional council, and all sons and daughters of Isanlu Kingdom a peaceful, colourful, and memorable 2026 New Yam Festival celebration.
