2023: Women advocacy group makes case for a woman from Yagba for Kogi West Senatorial seat


 

 

A group, advocate for gender equality and women empowerment has called for the consideration of women in chosing the next person to represent Kogi West in 2023.

 

 

Ejiwumi Omolade who addressed a news conference in Lokoja said that it was the turn of Yagba which had never produce senator to do so in the next dispensation.

” Despite the array of qualified politicians in Yagba, the area has never been chosen. We have been giving others chance. it’s only fair and proper in the spirit of Justice and equity allow the area for the first time.”

“Not just allow Yagba, but also allow women from the area take a shot at the senate. Omolade added.

She called on all political parties to reserve their tickets for women to make sure that Yagba produce the next Senator to represent Kogi West.

The convener particularly called on the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to impress it on All Progressive Congress, APC, to give Yagba a chance saying that as a gender sensitive governor who had been championing equal representations, should as a necessity give women a chance this time.

” We know Governor Bello as a gender sensitive person and as a leader of the party should impress it on his party to reserve it’s ticket for a woman from the area.

She however made a case for Chief Mrs Adedoyin Ibikunle describing her as a woman with high intelligent quotient, well loved and vast experience capable of representing Kogi West if given the chance.
