2023: “I will give better recognition to Okene/Ogori Magongo women”, Captain Timi Iyela declares

Leading aspirant for Okene/Ogori Magongo Federal House of Representatives under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Captain Timi Iyela on Tuesday, January 18, 2022; visited a caucus of various Okene women groups and stakeholders to consult them on his intention to vie for the seat of Member representing Okene/Ogori Magongo Federal Constituency, come 2023.

The 32-year old flight captain took an on-the-spot tour round the constituency to take note of the largescale rot and increasing rate of underdevelopment in the constituency, afterwards, he proceeded to meet with various interest groups such as elders, women and youths, to make his intention known to them.

Captain Timi Iyela while addressing the various women groups, lamented the backwardness of the constituency. He promised that if he is able to get the opportunity to represent the constituency at the National Assembly, he will do his best to bring dividends of democracy to the constituency and the constituents; hence his reason for vying for the position of House of Representatives Member representing Okene/Ogori Magongo Federal Constituency in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

“I am happy to meet you all. Inspite of your various schedules you were able to find time to be here. I am very grateful to you all for honouring me with your presence. Some of you are my mothers, the rest of you are my sisters. Regardless of Local Government dichotomy or ethnic dichotomy, we are all one by virtue of belonging to the same Federal Constituency and by virtue of the desire to see a better Okene/Ogori Magongo Federal Constituency.

“My mothers and sisters, I have looked round our constituency and I have decided that enough is enough with the underdevelopment littered all over the constituency even when we have leaders who should bring development home to us as a Federal Constituency. I am here, therefore, to consult with you and to indicate my interest to you my mothers and sisters, about my desire to contest for Okene/Ogori Magongo House of Representatives seat in the forthcoming 2023 elections.”

“I want to give back to our constituency, to help us actualize our dreams as a constituency. It is not good that young people would graduate and they cannot get an enabling job environment to actualize their dreams of being employed. Some cannot even afford to go to school to actualize their dream of being educated. For many of them, it is not their fault, it is because they have nobody to sponsor them or to assist them with the resources and opportunities they need. Young people should be able to actualise their dreams. For these reasons and more, I am here to offer myself for service to our constituency, and I cannot do it without your support as my mothers and sisters. I want to help us as a people and as a constituency. I want to be able to go to Abuja and make a case for our sons and daughters, for your sons and daughters, for my brothers and sisters,” an emotional Captain Timi Iyela told the women groups gathered.

“Women are the backbones of any society. I will give better recognition to women, I will help lobby for more Governmental offices for women from Okene/Ogori Magongo Federal Constituency. The days of idleness and helplessness will be over if you can support my offer to serve you at the green chamber. There are a lot of national empowerment prgrammes being carried out sometimes by Government, but hardly are women from Okene/Ogori Magongo selected to be beneficiaries too. That is too sad; my mothers and my sisters. I promise to facilitate national empowerment programmes for women from Okene/Ogori Magongo Federal Constituency if I am given the mandate to represent Okene/Ogori Magongo Federal Constituency. I promise to avail our youths with lots of employment opportunities in Government organisations. I will not disappoint you; my mothers and my sisters,” Captain Timi Iyela further added.

The gathering which had in attendance, various women stakeholders from Okene PDP, promised to give their full support to Captain Timi Iyela. They thanked him for his numerous philanthropic efforts for party members in the Local Government and for the constituency. They encouraged him to never be tired of helping as his help has really sustained a lot of constituents that hitherto had no one to help them.

“Personally I will ensure we speak to your party members that we know, to ensure they give you ticket for this House of Reps seat you are contesting for. Even the ones we don’t know now, we will look for them and speak to them on your behalf, we will tell them ‘it is Timi Iyela we want for Reps, you people should please give him ticket to represent us in National Assembly House of Representatives.’ God bless you. Amin”, Mrs Ozohu further said on behalf of the groups in attendance.
