Hon. Umar Baba Muhammed aka Baba kakanda was born into the family of late Alhaji Muhammed Umoru Sanda on this day 06/10/1982.
He is from Kakanda Ward (Budon), responsible, married, blessed with a wonderful family.
His political journey started in the year 2003 as a ANPP member were he served severally as a returning officer of the party in all the elections ANPP participated in until the formation of CPC.
In summary, all the elections participated by the following persons like prince Abubakar Audu, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, His Excellency Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello, since 2003 to date, Baba has been their returning officer including all the participants of state House of Assembly, House of Rep, Senate.
In the year 2010, Baba Kakanda left ANPP to join CPC were he became the pioneer secretary of CPC in lokoja LGA. He personally took the party to four (4) Ward in Lokoja ll constituency namely Kupa North & South, Eggan and kakanda Ward were he came from until the formation of APC.
During the period under mention, alot of party men and women called on him to step forward for the local government party chairmanship of APC which he did until leaders asked him to step down for Alh. Haruna Isah.
He became a critical stake holders of the party (APC) in Lokoja local government. For the passion and love he has for Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, our leader the sitting and current governor of Kogi State, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello came with a forum named Kogi Youth Arise in support of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. Baba Kakanda, quickly joined and followed behind his Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello even when at that time he never knew his Excellency will aspire for the number one seat in the state.
” This is because, Gov. Yahaya Bello at that time did not tell us at our own level that he will be contesting for governor of Kogi state all we know was that we saw a complete nice person that committed his resources, time and even serious strength in making sure Gen Muhammadu Buhari became the President of this country and GOD Almighty did answer his prayers”.
As Kogi State governorship election was drawing closer, one faithful day we heard that oga (His Excellency Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello) is also among the aspirant contesting for the number one seat in the State.
Hon. Umar Baba Muhammed (aka Baba kakanda). Became the Coordinator Kakanda Ward to His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello for his first election. To cut the story short, Oga became the governor of Kogi State.
Hon. Umar Baba Muhammed aka Baba kakanda took his first political appointment as SA to the office of Chairman, Lokoja Local government in the year 2015 for three(3) month.
His second political appointment as Lokoja Local Administrative Committee with POD folio (supervisor budget and planning) until resolution, while in office he was appointed has Secretary Campaign committee Lokoja LGA for His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello in the year 2019 governorship election in Kogi State.
Hon. Umar Baba Muhammed aka Baba KAKANDA became one amongst the very strong supporters and financial members of Hon. Muhammed Dansebe Muhammed Political Movements (MDM) for Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Council.
Baba Kakanda got his third political appointment after the victory of his current Boss as the secretary Lokoja Local government.
It is on this note that we the good people/Youths of Lokoja II constituency have resolved to call on Hon. Umar Baba Muhammed aka Baba kakanda to come forward for the representation of the good people of Lokoja II constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, come 2023 inshallah.
This we believe is to appreciate his Commitment and Consistency to President Mohammadu Buhari and more importantly, Gov. Yahaya Bello.
He is not only capable, reliable, Baba Kakanda is a shining light in transparent and grassroots development for the people.
