2023 Ankpa/Olamaboro/Omala Fed. Constituency: Organised Labour in Kogi Gets February 2022 Ultimatum to Release NLC Chairman


 

Comr. Onuh Edoka asked to accept offer to represent the People.

A Call has been made to the Organised Labour in Kogi State by some critical stakeholders for the release of the State Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Comr Onuh Edoka to represent the People of Ankpa/Olamaboro/Omala Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives come 2023.

At an enlarged meeting of both members of the All Progressives Congress, the Peoples Democratic Party, Labour Leaders, the National Youth Council of Nigeria and Women Groups in the nine Local Government Areas of Kogi East held at Okpo yesterday, the gathering gave Comr. Onuh Edoka February ultimatum to declare his interest and accept the offer to run for the Ankpa, Olamaboro, Omala Federal Constituency seat come 2023.

The meeting was organised by the Onuh Edoka Network For GYB2PYB, urged the Organised Labour in the State to heed to the call of the people of the Constituency for the release of the State NLC Chairman to represent the People.

Spokesman of the organisers of the meeting, Thankgod Attah, said the Federal Constituency is desirous of having Comr. Edoka represent the People come 2023, pointing out that his efforts and achievements that gave him a second term in office as the State NLC Chairman are qualities the people are looking forward to, in having him replicate same feat in the House of Representatives.

The people described the NLC Chairman as a man whose voice if elected to the House of Representatives would be vocal, heard loud and clear, described him as a man who understands the intricacies of lobby that would attract development to the Constituency.

The gathering which was a full represention of the critical stakeholders in the federal Constituency, all went on their knees, with various speakers begging Comr. Edoka to be released by the Organised Labour and urged him to accept to run as it is a call in the interest of growth and development of the Constituency.

The people expressed optimism that with Comr Edoka, the Federal Constituency stands to benefit the more in terms of adequate represention as well as in attracting the much needed democracy dividends in the areas of infrastructure development.

The APC and PDP members also disclosed that with Comr Edoka, his candidacy will break the barriers of party affiliation, leading to a peaceful election, urged the Organised Labour to release him without hesitation to run in 2023.

Similarly, the youths and women groups insisted that with Comr Edoka, the voting demography that usually determines victory in an election is vehemently in his Support, hinged their call for the Organised Labour to release him and for him to accept to run, as the only limitation standing against his overwhelming victory in 2023.

Some labour leaders also Present at the meeting commended the desire of the stakeholders, described it as apt, said it is capable of changing the represention of the Constituency for good when juxtaposed with the outstanding Leadership Comr Edoka has provided to the Organised Labour in the State.

The critical stakeholders ended the meeting with a marching orders for the Organised Labour, the NLC Chairman, said his acceptance to run by February remains a must heed, as he represent the face of hope for the hopeless, and positive transformation of the Federal Constituency come 2023.

 

Responding, Comr. Edoka asked the stakeholders to go and consult widely on the request for him to run, promised to make his position to contest or not known by February.

 

He however said if he would have to contest in 2023 when he makes up his mind and if it is going to be under the platform of the APC, certainly he would need the blessings of His Excellency, Gov. Yahaya Bello to run, thanked the people for finding him worthy.
