The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kogi state has sworn in 1,426 Corps members of the 2021 Batch ‘C’ Stream I deployed to serve in the state.
While delivering address of the Director General, NYSC, Brigadier General S. Ibrahim to Corp members that the orientation course according to her is planned to task Corps Members physically, mentally and emotionally, noting that the course content of the programme like Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneur Development SAED is deliberately designed and streamlined to instil in them essential leadership qualities for future challenges.
Pst. Mrs Mofoluwaso Williams, NYSC Coordinator, Kogi State, disclosed this during the swearing-in ceremony held at the Asaya NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Kabba Local Government Area on Tuesday commended the corps members for answering the clarion call to serve their fatherland.
Mrs Williams congratulated the sworn in Corps members for making it through to participate in the orientation exercise and the one year service to their fatherland.
She urged them to participate fully in the camp activities during the three weeks orientation course informing them that camp life is highly regimental as the flow of activities is strictly guided by the orientation time-table.
The coordinator revealed that the 1,426 Corps members sworn in comprised 716 males and 710 females.
She called on the corps members to read and familiarise themselves with the NYSC Bye-laws and to comply with all the orientation camp rules and regulations.
She also enjoined them to continue to abide by the Federal Government’s COVID-19 safety protocols to check the spread of the virus during and after the orientation exercise.
“I want to say that all corps members were tested before entry into the camp, also the camp officials, security and marketers were all tested and all of them are COVID-19 free.
“I congratulate you all and urge you to continue in the spirit of adhering to all COVID-19 protocols, so we can collectively fight the spread of the virus,” she said.
However, she explained that the low key inauguration ceremony was in keeping with the directive on adherence to the COVID-19 protocols.
Meanwhile, appreciate the kogi state Ministry of health, traditional rulers and security agency especially Commandant of the Nigeria Army Record, Chari Megumeri Barrack Lokoja, Major General O.W Abu and other collaboration agency like the TY Danjuma foundation
The highlight of the ceremony was the administering of the National Pledge and oath of allegiance by the state’s Chief Judge, who was represented by Hon. Justice O.S.A Obayomi of the High Court of Justice, Kabba.
