2000 Widows Benefit From Asiwaju Asiru Idris’ Empowerment Program


 

 

The Honourable Commissioner for Finance in Kogi State who doubles as the Chairman of the state economic team, Asiwaju Idris Asiru has empowered over two thousand widows across the state.

Speaking at the event which was held at his country home in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area yesterday, Asiwaju Idris Asiru pointed out that  Kogi West Widows Empowerment Initiatives was born of his desire to follow the footstep of his boss, Governor Yahaya Bello whose determination is to transform lives and lift as many people as possible out of poverty, stressing that in the spirit of the season as a Muslim he decided to celebrate the Edi-el-Kabir with the people.

He also said since God do answer the prayers of the widows, he felt reaching out to them will be an avenue that his prayers for GYB to transform to PYB will be answered. He noted that the prayers of the  widows as one of the vulnerable  groups in the society will go a long way for the success of the presidential aspiration of his boss come 2023.

He noted that the initiative was established last year to reach out to different volunrable groups in the society, stressing that they have been able to reach out to over 2000 people across the state.He said this edition is strictly for Isanlu people since it is said charity begin at home hence he chose to use the Edi-el-Kabir celebration to reach out to the widows in the 4 wards in Isanlu town.

He urged party faithfuls of the All Progressive Congress across the country especially  to be delegates to have faith with the candidature of Governor Yahaya Bello being the youngest Governor in the country who have achieved so much in the area of security, infrastructure development, civil service reform, women and youths inclusiveness in governance. He reiterated that with him as the president come 2023, the country will witness real development in all sectors.

Also speaking, the Agbana of Isanlu, His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Etunbi who commended the initiative of the commissioner in reaching out to the vulnerable groups in the society, stressed that Isanlu and indeed Yagba land is proud of his leadership style.

He urged other well meaning people in the area to emulate what he is doing for the people to alleviate their suffering during the sallah.

He admonished the people of the community to continue to be proactive by reporting any strange movements in and around their area to security agents.

Other diginatries who attended the event include, Hon. Pius Kolawole, Chairman Yagba West, Hon. David Alumo, Mopamuro, Hon. Ijagbemi Abdulrazaq Yagba East the three chairmen in Yagba East, their vice chairmen, Hon. Adebimpe Alfred, Kabba/Bunu LGA Vice Chairman, Mrs Victoria Jagboro, Provost, Kogi State College of Education Technical, Kabba, Secretaries, Barrister Bamidele Suru, other traditional rulers and guests.
