1st January, 2025 will mark the end of water scarcity in Lokoja Metropolis – Kogi Water Resources Commissioner.

 

The Kogi State Commissioner For Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya MD Farouk has assured that 1st January, 2025 will mark the end of water scarcity in Lokoja Metropolis.

 

The Commissioner made the disclosure yesterday night around 9:00pm while monitoring the treatment of water to commence the non stop distribution of water to the metropolis from Its January, 2025.

Engr. Farouk explained that the men of the Kogi State water works have not known sleep in the last four months, have sacrificed their Sundays and Fridays just to meet up with the matching orders given by Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo.

The Commissioner pointed out that towards meeting with the population of the metropolis and in view of the tank capacity, there is the need for the men to keep treating and preserving water in all the tanks and reservoir reason why he was out in the night to monitor the treatment and storage of Water..

The Commissioner disclosed that men of the Water Works are now working on shift from now till first of January to enable them achieve the quantity of water needed to meet with the non stop distribution of water to the metropolis as directed by the Governor.

The Commissioner disclosed that the GRA are of Lokoja has finally been synchronized and integrated into the old water works, towards ensuring that they get water henceforth.

” With what I have seen, we will meet with the Governor’s target of non stop distribution of water from 1st of January.

” We have been working in the last four months and have during the testing period replaced broken pipes and fixed new ones.

” We have also received the Governor’s approval to ensure that up to the Barracks, Lokongoma and the other areas that are not getting water, they will from end of January to February begin to also get Water supply.

” We will from that time now have a rationing formula, with the people knowing when they will be getting water for us to meet with the distribution of water to all the people of Lokoja.

” We have been working silently in the past four months”, appealed to the township to be patient with the modalities the Water board is putting in place, pending when the Greater Water Works is fully back on stream.

The Commissioner pointed out that Gov. Ododo is poised to ensure that the people of the State and state Capital get portable water delivered to their homes.

” We in the State Ministry of Water Resources as directed by Gov Usman Ahmed Ododo are committed to serving the people better in the supply of water”, said the Water Resources Commissioner.
