… Senator says Hijrah lessons of courage and resilience should guide citizens amid modern challenges
As Muslims across Kogi West, Kogi State, Nigeria and around the world mark the beginning of Islamic New Year 1448AH, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District, has called on citizens to embrace faith, sacrifice, unity, and service to humanity.
In his New Year message released on Tuesday, the Senator described the commencement of 1448AH as a divine opportunity for reflection, renewal, and rededication to values that promote peace, progress, and national development.
Senator Karimi, who was overwhelmingly returned as the APC candidate for Kogi West in the last senatorial primaries, said the significance of Hijrah extends beyond history. “Hijrah represents courage, resilience, vision, and the determination to pursue a better future despite challenges. We must draw inspiration from these timeless lessons as we navigate the realities of modern society,” he stated.
The lawmaker emphasized the need for stronger unity among communities and peaceful coexistence among diverse ethnic and religious groups in Kogi West. He stressed that collective commitment is crucial to building a prosperous Kogi West, a stable Kogi State, and a stronger Nigeria.
“We cannot achieve meaningful development without unity. The diversity of Kogi West is our strength, and when we stand together, our communities will thrive,” Senator Karimi said.
The renowned philanthropist and community leader expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for His countless blessings and for sustaining the nation through economic and security challenges. He prayed for continued peace, security, economic prosperity, and greater opportunities for all citizens, especially youths and women.
Senator Karimi further reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that uplift lives, empower young people, and strengthen community development across the seven LGAs of Kogi West – Kabba/Bunu, Ijumu, Yagba East, Yagba West, Mopa-Muro, Kogi-Koton Karfe, and Lokoja.
“As we begin this New Islamic Year, let us renew our hope, strengthen our faith, support one another, and work collectively towards a future that reflects our shared aspirations. Together, we can build a society where peace, justice, and prosperity thrive,” he said.
The Senator concluded by wishing the Muslim Ummah and all Nigerians a blessed and fruitful 1448AH. “May Allah make 1448AH a year of peace, progress, breakthroughs, and fulfilled aspirations for Kogi West, Kogi State and Nigeria as a whole. May every family experience divine favour, abundant blessings, good health, and success,” he prayed.
Muslim leaders and stakeholders across Kogi West have continued to commend Senator Karimi for his consistent outreach and support for interfaith harmony, education, and empowerment programmes in the district.
