The third phase of the System and Structure Strengthening Approach against Radicalization to Violent Extremism SARVE project of
ActionAid Nigeria is targeting 36,000 direct beneficiaries, made up of 18,200 Youths, 4,160 women, 7,320 men and 6,320 in school children in Kano and Kaduna States.
This was the disclosure made by Peace Eneja, Communications Officer, ActionAid Nigeria at a two day Media Masterclass on Preventing Violent Extremism in Kano and Kaduna States with the theme: Creating Enabling Environment and Shaping Peace Through Conflict Sensitive Reportage organized by ActionAid with funding by Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF) holden at Goshen Hotel Keffi, Nasarawa State media practitioners.
The Communication Officer in her presentation on the overview of the SARVE 111 Project, Objective, outcomes, Communities of engagement, target audience, media partnership expectations, urged the Journalists to see the training seriously, pointing out that curbing violent extremism would require messaging from the media to change the narrative.

The training for Journalists in the two identified states by ActionAid is in continuation of the SARVE 111 project in partnership with Democratic Action Group (DAG) in Kano and Global Peace Development (GPD).
The SARVE 111 Project aside the direct target beneficiaries, Peace disclosed will also reach 129,360 indirect beneficiaries, made up of 40,200 females and 89,160 male.
The SARVE 111 Project she added would support the benefiting communities against injustice and inequalities through building tolerance, and Strengthen community where violent extremists exploit weak governance as well as provide positive socio economic alternatives and life skills to what violent extremists claim to offer.
The project outcomes aside decreasing vulnerability of at risk young men and women individual level, Peace added would help strengthen structures to address violent extremism strengthen community level as well as improve enabling environment for preventing violent extremism, government and institutional level.
The SARVE 111 project in the identified states is a thirty six months project will is to raise awareness on the dangers of violent Extremism, develop new and nurture existing effective response systems amongst other objectives, build social cohesion in 24 communities in 12 LGAs within the already identified project States.
The SARVE 111 project is coming following the successes of the first and second SARVE phases of the project in Kogi and Nasarawa States as well as current trends in the North West region of the country.
