Removing Direct primary from the electoral bill, best for our democracy – Hon. Alfred Bello

The Kogi State Treasurer of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. Alfred Bello has urged the National Assembly Members to allow for Political parties choose the option of Primaries to adopt, supported the electronic transmission of results in the nation’s electoral system.

The PDP Chieftain in Kogi State and for State Parliamentarian in a statement issued to Newsmen made his position known.

According to Hon. Alfred Bello: ” We have said it before now that any law that doesn’t guarantee freedom of choice is a bad law.

” How can you compel a political party on the method to use in selecting candidates. Any party that wishes to use Direct primary should do so at their own volition.

” If delegates can no longer represent the people that elected them at the primary to nominate candidates then the National Assembly Members of only 360 can not seat to represent and make law for over 200millions Nigerians

” The PDP position is very clear, that party should be allowed to determine her mode of primary and reject imposition of Direct primary and it is expected of all loyal and committed party members to toe the same line.

” I want to advise National Assembly and Nigerians from embarking on any action or unnecessary activities that might give APC government the opportunity to throw away the Electronic transmission of election results which more important to our democracy” he said.
