The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has admonished the people of Kogi state to enroll in its Group, Individual and Family Health Insurance Programme (GIFSHIP) to enable them have access to quality healthcare.
Kogi State Coordinator , NHIA Mr Sanni Suleiman who stated this during a public sensitization programme held across the nook and cranies of Lokoja the state capital on Tuesday.
According to him, the essence of the programme was at the instance of the directives from the national coordinator of NHIA that all state offices of the authority should commence massive sensitization in the state capital and down to the grassroots to create awareness on the existence of the new programme (GIFSHIP)
He described GIFSHIP as a family social health insurance programme with a mandate to insure all Nigerians by the year 2030 .
“GIFSHIP is meant for people working in both formal and informal sectors such as civil servants, artisans mechanics, plumbers, Okada riders, market traders, farmers among others” he stated.
He further disclosed that the enrolment which can be process at NHIA office in Lokoja would only cost #15,000 for individual while a family of three people would cost #45,000 and group of ten people would also cost #150,000, noting that payments are renewable every year.
Reeling out some of the benefits of the health insurance programme, the state coordinator said enrollees are entitle to primary, secondary/tertiary healthcare, scanning, laboratory test medical surgery treatment of malaria among others.
While emphasizing that quality healthcare is compulsory to all Nigerians, the Kogi state coordinator urged the people of the state to take the advantage of the programme to create healthy life for themselves.
