Many Feared Dead As Petrol Tanker Explodes in Lokoja


 

Many persons are feared dead, burnt beyond recognition as a Petroleum tanker explodes in Lokoja.

The petroleum tanker which exploded at about 10:00pm Monday night killed several yet to be identified persons around the felele area of Lokoja.

As at time of writing this report, information as to what led to the explosion was not available as efforts to reach the Police, and other agencies were not possible.

 

Eye witness report however attributed the accident to a head on collusion between the petrol laden tanker and another tanker.

 

According to report, owing to the road repairs on the Lokoja Abuja road, one section of the road was closed to traffic, making vehicles to use one lane.

 

It was in the circumstances that the two tankers collided leading to the pull of the tank containing fuel, making it to spill, caught fight and caused a blocked on the road.

 

Volume of the fire which lasted till 3:00am was so high that couldn’t allow for rescue operations.

 

The Kogi State Governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello according to a source is expected to visit the scene of the fire incident this morning.
