The female gubernatorial aspirant of labour party(LP) in the just concluded party primary election, Dr Atule Lateena Ahmadu Afolabi have advised party members to close ranks with the winner of the election, Barrister Adejo Okeme.

She advised the party faithful to forget the cropped up intrigues during the last party primary election, stressing that since the chips are down and the candidate has emerged, “there is a need to come together to plot for victory”.

Mrs Dr Atule Lateena Ahmadu Afolabi declared this to newsmen shortly after the party primary election held at the Kafa’s Hall multipurpose Centre in Lokoja.

She said the LP primary election has come and gone and the delegates have made their decision to crown whom they thought can win elections for the party in the 11th November governorship election in the state .

“So as a party person, I respect their opinions. Well, a winner has emerged .But I will support the party with everything I have to win the next election in the state”, she said.

The nurse turned politician added that she expected the winner to reach out to her and cross fertilise idea with others to champion the way forward for the party to shine at the polls in the coming governorship election .

She added : “I have what it takes to move the party forward, if consulted. I assure you that I will bring my intellectual capacity, wealth of experience and exposure to bear in order for the party to beat the rest contestants to the rear in the 11th November governorship election”.

She reminded the electorate to be mindful of the proverbial saying : “what a man can do,a woman can do even better” ,stressing that the time has come in the body of Nigeria politics that female folks should be given a chance in leadership position to contribute their quotas to the development of the state and the country in generally .

“I came up to tell the delegates/ electorate and my party members in kogi to give me a chance to fix the weak links in the political arrangement in the state for a better sharing of divided of democracy in the state, where everyone will have a sense of belonging .

“Since that opportunity has not be given to me via labour party this time around, I will stand and work assiduously for my party to coast home victory in November”, she said.

She therefore advised all party members, stakeholders and officials to be transparent in their dealings and doings , by ensuring that their actions and inactions are within the ambit of the law to avoid hiccups as the state is preparing for the real election.

She enjoined the people of the state to look forward towards LP as the only party that can emancipate them from chackles of poverty, ignorance and deprivations which characterised the present government in the country in all stratas , by voting enmass for the candidate of the party in the November governorship election in the state.

In the party primary election on Saturday in Lokoja, Barrister Adejo Okeme defeated all other aspirants, including AVM Isaac Alfa (rtd) to become the standard bearer of the party for the November 11 governorship election in the state.

According to the party , Barrister Okeme polled 127 votes , while AVM Isaac Alfa who came second scored 69 votes .
