Kogi State PDP Mourns Victims of Tragic Boat Mishap

The Kogi State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed deep sorrow over the recent boat mishap that claimed several lives in the region. In a heartfelt statement issued by Alhaji Tijani Aruwa, the party emphasized the unfortunate and avoidable nature of the tragedy, attributing it to a lack of adherence to essential safety measures.

“The incident is a stark reminder of the critical importance of safety protocols on our waterways,” Aruwa stated. “If the necessary precautions had been in place and properly followed, this tragedy could have been averted.”

The party extends its condolences to the families of the victims, praying for the eternal rest of those who lost their lives. “We stand in solidarity with the grieving families during this incredibly difficult time and pray that they find the strength to bear this profound loss,” Aruwa added.

In light of this tragedy, the Kogi State PDP is calling on the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) to take immediate action to enhance safety measures across the region’s waterways. “It is imperative that NIWA wakes up to its responsibilities in ensuring the safety of our waterways,” the statement urged. “We cannot afford to lose more lives due to negligence and a lack of proper oversight.”

The party reiterated its commitment to advocating for improved safety standards and measures to prevent future incidents, emphasizing the need for a collective effort to safeguard the lives of those who rely on water transportation.

As the community mourns, the Kogi State PDP encourages all stakeholders to prioritize safety and work together to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
