Kogi Central: Senator Natasha facilitates entrepreneurial skill acquisition for youths

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Content, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has facilitated entrepreneurial skill acquisition training for youths in Kogi Central Senatorial District.

The programme, conducted under the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation, focused on solar street light/solar component installation and phone/handset repair training.

The training, which took place at the multipurpose hall of Senator Natasha’s residence in Kogi Central, saw the participation of 60 youths selected from the five local government areas of the senatorial district.

Upon completing the training on Tuesday, participants were awarded certificates, full tool kits to support their new skills, and a start-up fund of ₦150,000. They were also provided with protective kits.

Speaking at the event, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to delivering tangible democratic dividends to her constituents.

She emphasised that the initiative was part of her efforts to create job opportunities and tackle the challenge of unemployment.

“Graduates are seeking for jobs instead of becoming employers of labour. As you complete this five-day workshop, remember that what you’ve learned is just the beginning. It’s time to leverage technology, expand your skills, and make yourself useful.

“As you finish this training, take intentional steps to brand and market yourselves. I extend my gratitude to the Presidency and the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation for making this possible. I also thank members of my political party and my team for their support.

“Many of you traveled far for this training. We in Ebiraland are hospitable and ready to integrate with the rest of Nigeria. We are peace-loving people,” she said.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan encouraged the trainees to be exemplary ambassadors wherever they go.

The team of facilitators was led by Hon. Edmund Ana Bisong, with others including Paul Eze, Engr. Miracle Ikechukwu Nwawuru, and Engr. Asuquo Bassey, amongst others.
