The Managing Director, Hydro Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, has been praised for providing effective leadership that has positioned the Commission to be service oriented.
The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Coordinator of Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission, HYPPADEC, Engr. Mrs. Joan Oguche, and the Chairman Advisory Council, Kogi Built Environment and Building Materials Exhibition, BA’ALO-EMU, Oworo Kingdom in Kogi State, Chief Fejuku Benjamin Bola made the disclosures after HYPPADEC received an award of excellence from BEBM exhibition for quality service delivery.

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, represented by the Commissioner, Ministry of Environment, Hon. Victor Omofaiye, who presented the award to HYPPADEC, lauded the giant strides of the Commission in the State, praised Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa for providing strong leadership that has now made the impact of the Commission felt positively in the State.
While he assured of the State Government’s readiness to partner with the Commission, expressed appreciation with the activities the Commission has carried out thus far, pointing out that the debut of the Commission in the State has remained a blessing.
He assured of the Government’s support to the Commission, insisting that the Coming on board of the Commission underscores President Mohammadu Buhari’s concern for people living in the riverine communities who have hitherto been neglected, lauded the sincerity and transparency qualities of the Managing Director of HYPPADEC.
Speaking after receiving the award on behalf of HYPPADEC, the Kogi State Coordinator, Engr. Joan Oguche, described the establishment of the Commission as a blessing to HYPPADEC
related States particularly with the positive impacts felt by the people of the State thus far, a feat she described as unprecedented since the Commission’s debut in the State.
Engr. Joan listed all the achievements it has thus far made in the lives of the people in the ten affected HYPPADEC Local Government Areas of the State, praised President Mohammadu Buhari for the actualization of the Commission, also lauded the efforts of the Managing Director, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, disclosed that the Managing Director has worked tirelessly to actualize the mandate of the Commission in the State.
Engr. Mrs Joan disclosed that the Commission has thus far embarked on free medical program in HYPPADEC Local Government Areas of Kogi State since coming on board, pointing out that the intervention has gone a long way in assisting the citizens in no small measures in there health needs.
The Coordinator added that the Commission has equally carried out several empowerment programs with the aim of improving the well-being of the people, described the coming of HYPPADEC as a blessing to the people of Kogi State.
Similarly, the Commission she explained has begun a Youth Transformation Program aimed at empowering Youths in different skills of there choices, said about 700 hundred Youths are presently undergoing training.
Engr. Mrs Joan added that the Commission has also assisted and empowered farmers living in the riverine areas with fertilizers, said the efforts is to aid increased production, further added that the Commission has also distributed bags of rice to cushion the effect of poverty in HYPPADEC Local Government Areas.
While pointing out that the Commission is equally concerned about security, Engr. Mrs Joan further revealed that several motorcycles to aid in securing communities in HYPPADEC Local Government Areas have been distributed by the Commission in the State.
In the area of Education, HYPPADEC, Engr. Mrs Joan disclosed has concluded arrangements for the Commission to soon pay the school fees of Tertiary Institution Students in the State who are from the catchment areas.
The Kogi State Coordinator disclosed that the Commission has paid the school fees of about 2000 students from the State as well as paid the WAEC/NECO fees of students in HYPPADEC Local Government Areas since inception, described the coming of the Commission as a blessing that cannot be quantified.
In his remarks, the Chairman Advisory Council, Kogi Built Environment and Building Materials Exhibition, the BA’ALO-EMU, Oworo Kingdom in Kogi state, Chief Fejuku Benjamin Bola, described the establishment of HYPPADEC in Nigeria as a Commission geared towards making lives meaningful and comfortable for people living in riverine communities.
He described the award of quality service delivery presented to the Commission as a reward for positive impacts within the short time of its operations in the State, urged for its sustainability.
