The Executive Chairman of Okene Local Government, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad on Tuesday proclaimed the inauguration of the legislative arm of the Local Government at the Council Secretariat in Okene. The ceremony which attracted dignitaries, stakeholders, traditional and religious leaders as well as crowd of party supporters was conducted by the council clerk, Mr. Mustapha Jimoh Abubakar.
The oath of office was administered on the Councilors by a Chief Magistrate, of Kogi State Magistrate Court, Hon. Abiodun Jimoh and subsequently sworn in the elected ward representatives.
The councilors in their first sitting unanimously elected Hon. Bilikisu Aliyu Onumoko representing Abuga/Ozuja ward as legislative Council leader while Hon. Muhammed Ogirima of Idoji ward emerged the Deputy legislative council leader.
In his good will message, the Executive Chairman of the Council, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad congratulates the legislators and urged them to work collectively and in unity to sustain the policies and programs of the government.
Hon. Abdulrazaq enjoined them to place the interest of the Local Government over and above other interest in the discharge of their duties. He implore them to consider their responsibility as trust between them and the people they represent.
