Senator Adeyemi Smart, a Senator presently representing Kogi West, will be completing his third term at the senate under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC) next year. Ahead of next year’s election, many Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirants are jostling to unseat Senator Adeyemi Smart. They are warming up for the primaries which may hold in some few months time.
Among those jostling to succeed Senator Smart in Peoples Democratic party (PDP) are Hon. TJ Yusuf, though still consulting, His Excellency, Chief Sam Aro who is also still consulting, the alleged controversial Senator Dino Melaye was said to be among the contestants and Otunba Niyi Olayemi who has been consulting all these while, and equally made his intention known for quite a long time now.
Ahead of 2023 senate race, recently, a group known as Kogi West Political Searchlight trump up their umbrella the symbol of the peoples democratic party (PDP) calling on delegates to vote enmasse for Chief Otunba Niyi Olayemi at the party’s primaries.
In a press statement signed by its Chairman, Comrade Omotosho Dare and Secretary, Mallam Mohammed Ibrahim respectively and made available to CONFLUENCE TIMES NEWSPAPER said the group is fully
out to galvanise support and mobilise delegates for Otunba Niyi.
The statement added that Otunba Niyi has what it takes to represent the good people of Kogi West at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly.
According to the statement, Otunba, during his consultation tour of the senatorial district and visit to the traditional rulers has already made him conversant with the people and their problems.
The group also said that they are determined, firmly, genuinely and formidably behind the clarion call on the delegates to vote massively for Otunba Niyi Olayemi.
The group also Solicit the support of all a sundry in Kogi West for the realisation of this patriotic and progressive move.
