FAN COLLABORATES WITH OTHER FEMALE PROFESSIONALS TO END BUILDING COLLAPSE IN NIGERIA

In a bid to curb the Menace of incessant Building Collapse witnessed in the Country in recent times, the Female Architects of Nigeria,(FAN)a Subsidiary of the Nigeria Institute of Architects, has taken a bold step to address the the Menace which is almost becoming a reoccurring decimal in the Country.

 

Speaking to the Press at the just Concluded 2024 “archibuilt EXPO” Organized by the Nigerians Institute of Architects(NIA)with the theme: “Innovations In Sustainable Construction”, held at the Rainbow Event Center,Garki Area 8, Abuja, between 10th-12th September,2024, the Chair of the Female Architects of Nigeria, Arc.Ene Agada said, as a Subsidiary of the Nigerian Institute of Architects, the problem of incessant Building Collapse in the Country Occasioned by the activities of quacks and unprofessional practice is worrisome and their was a Compelling need to tackle the hydra headed Menace.

 

She Pointed out that, one of the steps they had taken as a Professional body, was to bring Female Professionals from various Sectors and fields outside the Built environment on board, to enable them Share opinions on how to bring the Problem of building Collapse in the Country to an end, She emphasized that,as the first points of Call or Contacts whenever there’s an incidence of building Collapse, automatically gave them the responsibility of ensuring safety in all buildings be it residential or industrial.

She said the Female Architects of Nigeria also Seek to Collaborate with other female Professionals to form o an advocacy group with a Strong Voice to enable them engage with Governments, Policy makers and other Critical Stakeholders,so that they Could Come out with a legislation on how the menace of building Collapse could be reduced if not stoped completely.

While Congratulating the Nigeria Institute of Architects, (NIA) on the 2024 archibuilt EXPO,she described it as a big success, Considering the exhibitors and the products that were Showcased, she said.

 

Responding to question from journalist on the Challenges Female Architects faced in a male dominated Profession, Arc.Agada noted that,the Challenges faced in the Course of Practicing as a female Architect was not different from what it were while studying as a student, stressing that all you need do as a female Architect is to endure and persevere, noting that no Preferential treatment or Consideration for the female Architects.

 

 

Arc.Eneh Agada further noted that,it was in recognition of the Challenges faced by female Architects that the Female Architects of Nigeria (FAN) was formed to Support the aspirations of female Architects in the Country and enable them Contributes to National development.

 

Throwing more lights on the Vision and Mission of the Current leadership of the female Architects of Nigeria (FAN) Ene Agada further explained that, the female Architects, is poised towards advancing the role of female Architects and the built environment in Nigeria, She also bustressed that, they were equally Committed to mentoring and Supporting the next generation of the female Architects.

Sustaining and prioritizing environmentally Conscious design and practice remains their watchword, she added.
