Egbe community in Yagba West Local Government, Kogi State on Friday said the people of the community remain resolute in appreciation of two of its illustrious sons, Chief Jide Omokore, the Aremo of Egbe and Hon Sunday Karimi, a former member of the House of Representatives, Yagba Federal Constituency.
The declaration was made during the visit of Chief Omokore to the palace of the Elegbe of Egbe in Egbe.
According to Karimi, Omokore, though hailed from neighbouring Isanlu, the business mogul started his adult life in Egbe and has identified with the community in all life endeavours including contributing to the social and economic growth of Egbe.
He noted that the Aremo title given to Omokore is a reserve of the heir to the throne to demonstrate how the community holds him in high esteem.
“You have to be special to be bestowed with the title of Aremo. Aremo Jide Omokore has contributed immensely to the development of Egbe in many ways including during emergencies. He has silently touched individual lives and has made people wthin and outside Yagba and beyond the borders of Kogi State who referenced him as “leader’. Egbe people love and cherish him and he knows that”.
Addressing the Elegbe-in-council at the palace, Omokore appreciated Oba Irukera, describing his coming to Egbe as a return to his garden. He described Egbe as unapologetically a Christian community and prayed that God gives the Elegbe the wisdom to succeed.
Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo described Egbe as “a great and historic city”. He assured of support for the community in his private capacity and as a ‘son’ connected to the community through exemplary leadership of Chief Omokore.
