COHES FUL Gets Go Ahead To Admit 100Level Student by MDCN


 

 

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCN has given a go ahead to the Management of the Federal University Lokoja to admit the pioneer 100Level Student to her College of Health Sciences.

MDCN gave the approval after a tour of facilities put in place to kick start the program in the Institution.

The MDCN Team lead by the Registrar, Dr. T.A.B Sanusi, promised to work with the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) at ensuring the successful takeoff and sustenance of the College of Health Sciences (COHES) of the Institution.

He said the team was on an Advisory Visit to interact with the VC, Prof. Olayemi Akinwunmi, Provost of the College and other critical stakeholders to ensure the successful takeoff of the College of Health Sciences of the Institution.

Dr. Sanusi noted that the transformation of the Federal Medical Centre Lokoja to Federal University Lokoja Teaching Hospital was also part of the reasons for the visit of the team.

He noted that the importance of health cannot be overemphasized, stressing that the move was part of efforts at guiding the Institution aright to enable her achieve greater success on the new initiatives.

The Registrar said continuous synergy between the University Management and the Provost of the College of Health Sciences will bring about even growth, describing medicine as a continued apprenticeship.

Dr. Sanusi praised Prof. Akinwumi for following due process by first inviting the Council before the commencement of the proposed College of Health Sciences and the Teaching Hospital of the Institution, describing such as a right step to success.

While urging the Institution to sustain her efforts at kick starting the College of Health Sciences and the Federal University Lokoja Teaching Hospital, Dr. T.A.B Sanusi promised that the Council will do her best at providing the necessary advice needed to at arrive at the desired goal.

On his part, the Vice Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, said the management is determined to making the Institution most viable across the Country. Prof. Akinwumi explained that the Institution is committed to making the College of Health Sciences and the FUL Teaching Hospital a reality, stressing that no stone will be left unturned at achieving the fit.

While appreciating the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) for the Advisory Visit, Prof. Akinwumi expressed optimism that the kickoff of the two projects will help restructure the health institution.

He explained that the deploring state of the health sector across the Country necessitated the plans to embark on the projects, stressing that the University is committed to setting the pace at the commencement of the projects.

Prof. Akinwunmi commended the commitment of the Management staff for their cooperation so far, describing them as a team of educated elites who are willing to seeing to the success and progress of the younger generation. While at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Lokoja, the Medical Director, Dr. Olatunde Alabi, described the visit of the MDCN team as timely, saying the health of the people remain the priority of medical practitioners.

Dr. Alabi promised that FMC Lokoja will collaborate with the University at ensuring the success of the Teaching Hospital, adding the Health Institution will also comply with all directives of the Federal Government.
