Coach threatens legal action against Nasarawa Govt, FC over N19.7m unpaid entitlements

An Ex-Goalkeeper Coach has threatened to drag Nasarawa Government and Nasarawa United Football Club (FC) to Court over N19.7 million unpaid entitlements.

The Ex-Coach, Michael Jatau, made the threat in a 30 Day Pre-action Notice/Letter to the state government and the club, made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Sunday.

Jatau through his Attorney, Mr Ayuba Yirvoms, accused the state government and management of it’s club for being insensitive to his well being and plight as a coach despite faithfully serving the state for four good years.

He said that he was engaged through a “Contract agreement by the Nasarawa United Football Club, Lafia as a Coach on Nov. 1, 2019 which elapsed on Nov. 1, 2021, with an automatic renewal of another two (2) years.”

But that to his (Jatau’s) greatest dismay, the Club failed to honour the terms of the agreement leading the Club to “owing him the sum of N19.7 million being his lawful entitlement while working for the Club which they refused to liquidate despite repeated demands.”

The letter signed by Yirvoms reads: “In the event our client’s demand is not met which we believe is unlikely, we will be left with no option than to seek legal redress, our claim is contained herein and the Defendants will be Nasarawa State Government and Nasarawa United Football Club.”

“As Solicitors to Coach Michael Jatau (hereinafter referred to as our Client) on whose instruction we write you this demand notice, we anticipate your favourable and prompt response in this regard.

“Consequent upon the above, we urge you to intervene by ensuring that the payment is made, which will go a long way to ameliorate our client’s ordeal which is better imagined than experienced, ” it said.
