Yuletide: Kabba/Bunu LGA Chairman Distributes 1,838 Bags Of 50kg Rice To Residents, Hails Gov Ododo For Impactful Governance In Kogi

The Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael, has distributed about 1,838 branded 50kg rice to residents across the 15 wards of the council for Christmas celebration.

Zacchaeus, who flagged off the distribution on Thursday at the LG Secretariat in Kabba, warned those saddled with the responsibility of distributing the rice not to hoard nor sell the item provided by government.

Represented by the Director of Local Government (DLG), Mrs Omolola Funmilayo Olorungbogun, expressed government commitment in overseeing the distribution process to guarantee that the intended recipients, particularly the most vulnerable, receive the necessary support.

She added: “The food relief was part of the governor’s efforts to assist the people for the Christmas and elevate the condition of the less privileged.

“The items will be distributed to all residents of the local government area in each of the 15 wards.

“Proper arrangements has been put in place to ensure that the palliatives get to those who needed them most.

“We have put every measure in place to guard against diversion of these items. We have set up local government and ward sub-committees who will ensure that these items reach the most vulnerable people”.

Zacchaeus emphasized that the gesture was timely, considering the hardship faced by the people.

According to him, the rice distribution was part of a statewide initiative by the Chief Servant of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to provide relief to Kogites affected by hunger and poverty.

The chairman stressed the significance of ensuring that the grassroots population benefits from the rice palliative initiative and warned against any attempts by political figures to divert the allocated resources, emphasizing that strict measures have been put in place to prevent such misconduct.

“My administration will not allow any unpatriotic element to cheat the people.

“The government has put mechanisms in place to track and apprehend those who plan to hoard the distribution of these food items.

The Chairman, however, thanked Governor Usman Ododo for his quick intervention to reduce hardship in the state.

He expressed gratitude to the Governor for the palliatives and pledged that the management of Kabba/Bunu LGA would ensure that every beneficiary in the local government receives their share of the rice bags.
