The newly sworn-in Acting Chief Judge of Kogi State, Hon. Justice Sunday Omeiza Otu, has said that the reign of the Obaro of Kabba, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dele Solomon Owoniyi, has brought peace to Okun land and Kogi State in general and noted that the traditional institution is about the most virile and reliable institution of fostering peace and unity on the state and the country.
The Hon. Acting Chief Judge made this assertion when he received the Obaro, who was on a courtesy visit, at the headquarters of the Kogi State Judiciary in Lokoja yesterday.
While recognising that the Obaro was the first to pay him a congratulatory visit barely hours after he took oath of office as the Acting Chief Judge of Kogi State, Hon. Justice Otu said the Obaro’s visit was a unique and unexpected surprise. He noted that such gesture was vital and helpful to the peace, unity and progress of a state like Kogi that is ethnically diverse.
He therefore wished the royal father a very long and peaceful reign on his throne emphasizing that if there is peace in Okun land it will extend to Kogi State and the nation in general. He urged his majesty to continue praying for the government and people of Kogi State stating that prayer was all that was needed for the efforts of the Governor Yahaya Bello administration to foster peace and unity in the state will not be in vain.
Earlier, the Obaro had congratulated his lordship over his appointment while disclosing that he brought good tidings from the Okun people of Kogi State on the visit. He urged the Hon. Acting Chief Judge to be steadfast and rely solely on God for guidance and direction while praying that God give him good health, wisdom and the understanding to discharge his duties effectively and efficiently. He expressed confidence that his lordship’s tenure would be successfully concluded to the glory of God.
His lordship was sworn-in last Tuesday by His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Governor of Kogi State who was represented by His Excellency, Chief Edward David Onoja, his Deputy following the retirement of the immediate past Chief Judge of the state, Hon. Justice Henry Adebola Olusiyi, who bowed out of service after the attainment of the retirement age of 65 on Monday, 11th January, 2021.
